Welcome to the Birthing Wisdom training section
You will find here information on courses for women who want to practice as Birth and Postnatal Doulas/Companions or Educators during the very special time of pregnancy, birth and early parenthood.
Birthing Wisdom offers the most in-depth and comprehensive Holistic Birth practitioner courses in the UK. It doesn’t just impart up-to-date essential knowledge and skills: for many women, the course is also a journey of self-discovery, of delving deeply into the feminine and into ‘Presence,’ developing the necessary qualities to successfully support women and couple through the journey of pregnancy, birth and early parenthood. Read our student’s words for a flavour of the experience.
Birthing Wisdom is more than a set of tools or skills, it is an approach to Birth and to Life. Read more about our approach here and the course overview here.
The circumstances of birth play an important role in creating a disposition to violence and self-destructive tendencies or to loving behaviour and healthy interpersonal relationships; thus changing birth practices to kinder and gentler ones would have a huge impact on the degree of violence acted out in the world.
Stanislav Grof, M.D
The first step to enrolling on the Birthing Wisdom training is to attend the Introduction to Birth work session. It gives us all a chance to see if the Doula fundamentals course is suitable for you and if we feel comfortable with each other and the way we teach before committing yourself to a fairly involved training. For more info or to apply for a place on Intro day click here.

” To be in alignment with ‘what is” means to be in a relationship of inner nonresistance with what happens. It means not to label it mentally as good or bad, but to let it be…Only if you resist what happens are you at the mercy of what happens, and the world will determine your happiness and unhappiness.”
Eckhart Tolle
