As a mother of 4 children I have experienced a variety of births including natural homebirth and cesarean section. I am aware of the consequences which can lead from a home birth to an unexpected hospital birth. I was introduced to Ina May Gaskin in the early 90’s and followed her wisdom through my births, I was also influenced by Sheila Kitsenger. I have use homeopathy, herbs and aromatherapy to support my body as well as healthy diet, supplements and plenty of fresh air, gentle exercise and yoga.
In my role as I doula I aim to hold the space with care, kindness and love. I believe in gently encouraging women to connect to their own intuition through the use of positive affirmations and listen and respond to their body and their baby. A mother can embrace movement flowing with the movements of their baby working together through the strength of contractions. By remaining calm and connected she will allow the natural flow of serotonin to enhance the feeling of calmness and happiness which will allow her body to release endorphins to harness the strength of contractions. The mother can resonate to the rhythms of her body with freedom of movement and a spiritual connection to herself and her baby leading to a beautiful welcome to the world.
I am happy to assist the mother and family however they feel they need and can facilitate with ceremony and signpost to complimentary medicine and alternative therapy.
